Molatelo was diagnosed with cancer 11 months ago and doctors pronounced that she could not be helped.
Johannah Molatelo, 29, Dikeledi's mother, said that Elizabeth Lethoko, the mayor of Ditsobotla in North West had pledged to donate groceries worth R750 a month to the family.
"My phone hasn't stopped ringing since the story of my child appeared in Sowetan.
"I would like to thank all the staff of Sowetan, especially those who brought Dikeledi's plight to the attention of people," Molatelo said.
