Anna Sebola is battling to get back R40000 she paid for land she intended to buy.

Sebola of Meadowlands in Soweto, said she later decided not to buy the land from Infact Home.

Sebola saw an advert Mannie Steel had placed in a local newspaper. She decided to buy the land and build a house on it, she said.

Her money was in a Standard Bank 32-day call account. Sebola gave notice that R40000 be released. The bank released the money to Steel.

Sebola said: "Steel promised to refund my money within 30 days. But since last November he has been making empty promises. I am tired of his lies. I need the money because I want to buy the house I am currently renting."

Steel undertook to refund the money a day later. That was a month ago.

Infact Homes is not registered with the Estate Affairs Agencies Board. The consumer protector will investigate Sebola's complaint.
