It is very disappointing to see our MPs taking corruption to another level.

It is very disappointing to see our MPs taking corruption to another level.

Corruption negatively affects the poor as illustrated in the summit on Fighting Corruption and Safeguarding Integrity.

The principle of Batho Pele is being replaced by self-enrichment, while corruption seems to be the culture. This practice will catch up with municipalities and provincial governments.

The perception will be: If MPs and leaders can do it and get away with it, why can't we? South Africans are beginning to lose faith in their MPs.

Corruption is a serious issue and the state should not be lenient when dealing with it so that resources and efforts are directed at employment creation and reducing poverty, rather than on fighting corruption.
