Eight armed men made off with an undisclosed amount of money and firearms after they robbed Fidelity security guards at a paypoint in Libode, Eastern Cape.

Eight armed men made off with an undisclosed amount of money and firearms after they robbed Fidelity security guards at a paypoint in Libode, Eastern Cape.

Police spokesman Inspector Dineo Koena said the Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) staff were preparing their machine when the incident occurred on Friday.

Koena said the men arrived in a white Toyota Hilux bakkie and shots were exchanged between the suspects and the guards.

The gunmen then demanded the keys for the machines and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

They also took rifles belonging to the security guards and shot four CPS cars' tyres.
