After winning the Diepkloof Half-Marathon, Dimakatso Morobi believes she is in good shape to win the Nedbank Johannesburg City Marathon on May 6.
Morobi, who is now running in the colours of Gauteng Striders, won the Diepkloof Athletics Club's event last weekend.
"I wanted to use the half-marathon as part of my preparations. I'm delighted it went off well," said Morobi.
"I will be taking part in a few more short distance events around Gauteng in the next weeks as a build-up to May 6.
"The plan is to win. It has been some time since I won a major competition," said Morobi, who won the South African marathon Championships in Durban in 2005.
Morobi is gearing herself up for a stiff challenge from the defending champion, Mr Price's Mamorallo Tjoka from Lesotho.
"It will be a tough race because Mamorallo is one of the favourites, but there will be other big runners because there will be lots of money at stake."
In the men's category, defending champion Johannes Kekana, Shadrack Hoff, George Mofokeng and Richard Mavuso have an edge.
Winners will pocket R60 000 in both the senior men and women's sections.
