The Mpumalanga Health and Social Services Department will today take on 67 medical students who will do community service as part of their degree course.
The department said the use of interns and community workers helped alleviate staff shortages at its health facilities.
Health Department spokesman Mpho Gabashane said Mpumalanga had difficulty in recruiting medical professionals because many of them were young and preferred city life.
