Hip-hop performer Linda Mkhize, aka ProKid, jets off to Sweden this week.

Pro, as he now prefers to be called, will perform and collaborate with well-known Swedish band Triple & Touch. He will visit Stockholm and Vasteras, the main strongholds of hip-hop in Sweden.

Mkhize was invited after the band's visit in October through the Star School Project Ambassadors initiative.

The Star School Project was established by Swedish IT entrepreneur Dan Olofsson and his wife, Christin, owners of the exclusive 5-star Thanda Private Game Reserve.

The project is aimed at building schools in KwaZulu-Natal.

During their performance last year, Triple & Touch was impressed by Mkhize's skills and immediately signed him on to be South Africa's hip-hop "ambassador".

Talking to Sowetan yesterday, Pro said he was excited to be going to Sweden.

"I know most people expect me to make my first international move to the US," he said, "but I'm starting off in unexpected places, which will eventually take me to the expected ones."
