Home Affairs has handed evidence to the courts to prosecute the South African Football Association in the Carlos Alberto Parreira work permit saga.

Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula's spokesman Cleo Mosana said yesterday that the department had collected television footage showing Parreira coaching Bafana Bafana.

Mosana said Safa had been formally charged and that the department had approached a television station after the magistrate indicated evidence would be needed in order to prosecute.

"We are busy putting evidence [together]. We are going to have witnesses to testify," she said.

Safa could be fined a maximum of R20000.
