Mulalo Sivhidzo, daughter-in-law of City Press editor Mathata Tsedu, was yesterday denied bail at the Krugersdorp magistrates' court.

Sivhidzo, 28, and five men are accused of killing Tsedu's chartered accountant son, 31-year-old Avhatakali Netshisaulu.

In denying her bail, magistrate Mariette Louw said Sivhidzo's lawyer failed to prove exceptional circumstances for her to grant bail.

"In considering all evidence before me, the court came to the conclusion that there is a prima facie case against her and the defence failed to prove exceptional circumstances and therefore bail is denied," she said.

Netshisaulu's brother, Mpho Tsedu, said that the family believed the state knew what it was doing when it denied Sivhidzo bail.
