Two ATMs were blown up in North West at the weekend, police said yesterday.

Captain Elsabe Augoustides said commercial explosives were used to blow up an Absa ATM at the Batlhelerwa shopping complex in Phalane village, west of Sun City, in Rustenburg, on Sunday.

A Standard Bank ATM was blown up in Kameeldrift, near Brits, on the same day.

Augoustides said that in both incidents no money was taken.

Augoustides said: "Since the beginning of the year, five ATMs have been blown up in North West."
