An administrative bungle means some University of Fort Hare students might have to study for an extra year to get their degrees, Daily Dispatch reported yesterday.

Scores of students at the East London campus - formerly part of the Grahamstown-based Rhodes University - including some who were to graduate this year, might be forced to stay on longer to complete their degrees.

The students might have to do alternative courses because some courses they have completed have been declared invalid this year.

Fort Hare spokesman Luthando Bara said they will realign the former Rhodes courses with those of Fort Hare. - Sapa
