IFP councillors in Ingwe, in Craighton in KwaZulu-Natal, have accused municipal speaker Mdelwa Mtolo of misconduct.

They allege that he is interfering politically in municipal administration and operations.

Hlalani Ngcobo, the IFP caucus chairman, said yesterday that Mtolo's interference had brought service delivery in the municipality to a standstill: "Some projects have been stopped and the people have suffered because of him."

The party has called on local-government MEC Mike Mabuyakhulu to investigate the alleged irregularities. - Canaan Mdletshe
