The spate of ATM blasts has now stretched to Limpopo.
Police reported yesterday that four men entered a filling station at GaMaphalle village in Bolobedu at about 2.30am and blew up a Standard Bank ATM before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.
Superintendent Moatshe Ngoepe, spokesman for the Mopani area police, said one of the suspects had been wearing a police uniform.
He said the ATM was situated in the same premises as the filling station
Ngoepe said the robbers pointed a firearm at the petrol station's guard.
Police have yet to identify the explosive device used.
"We have launched a hunt for the four suspects and hope to arrest them soon," Ngoepe said.
l Another Standard Bank ATM was blown up on Saturday morning at the Laamondo filling station near Thohoyandou, Limpopo, police said.
Superintendent Ailwei Mushavhanamadi said: "There was no money inside the ATM and the station had been closed for some time."
Police are looking for three men in connection with this blast.
