South Africa has been robbed of two literary giants, journalist Doc Bikitsha and poet Sipho Sepamla. These veterans of the written word enriched our lives immensely.

South Africa has been robbed of two literary giants, journalist Doc Bikitsha and poet Sipho Sepamla. These veterans of the written word enriched our lives immensely.

We shall forever remember Sepamla's poetry, prose and recitals and revolutionary teachings with great fondness.

Bikitsha, a contemporary of journalistic greats Es'kia Mphahlele, Obed Musi and Can Themba, inspired scribes young and old.

He was a remarkable repository of the history of our journalism with its many colourful characters and miserable souls. His humour-laden accounts proved that he was a keen observer of human life.

As if guided by higher spirits, Bikitsha and Sepamla guided the way for younger artists of the written word. They have run their proverbial mile. May their souls rest in peace.
