The couple arrived at the venue separately. Holmes first in a limousine, while the Mission Impossible star was briefly glimpsed in a black Mercedes van in the afternoon.
Holmes walked down the aisle in an Armani dress and Cruise wore a suit by the same designer at the romantic ceremony in the 15th-century Castello Odescalchi overlooking Lake Bracciano, just north of Rome.
The couple wed in front of family members and celebrity friends, including Victoria Beckham, Andrea Bocelli, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, Richard Gere, Brooke Shields and husband Chris Henchy, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarty and Mission Impossible III director JJ Abrams.
