Media group Naspers' Koos Bekker has been named South African entrepreneur of the year by Ernst & Young. Fulton Ramaphakela of Moloko Group Holdings was named the emerging entrepreneur for this year.
Bekker's key innovations include the birth of M-Net, MultiChoice and M-Web.
Ramaphakela started Moloko Information Systems, a computer hardware supplier, in 1997.
He has subsequently grown the business into the Moloko Group, providing a diverse range of businesses including Vimba Security, iSource and AssetCare.
Bekker will compete against winners from 39 countries at the global Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Awards event in Monte Carlo next year.
