Tucked in the valleys of Lanseria and the majestic Magaliesberg mountains in the distance is a wonder water world called GOG Lifestyle Park.

It's hard to describe in one word, really, but from Malibongwe Drive, your eyes are caught by colourful jumping castles, water features and games that scream for your attention. At closer inspection, you realise that there is so much to do and see at GOG.

It has become the trendy venue to hire for parties, celebrations and corporate team building exercises. The plethora of activities and fun and games make it an easy sell.

But for me, it's the most ideal place to entertain your children, especially in these hot summer days and it's reasonably priced at R150 a head.

There is a lot of splashing of water to accompany the sweet giggles of the little ones.

From jumping on castles to dips in the massive pools and pedal carting rides, the choices of leisure and adventure are many. There are some unique activities that caught my eye on my recent visit, like the popular gravity-defying giant rocket that children can't get enough of.

And then there is the spray park with dolphins and the splash pad in one of the pools - a giant bucket is filled with water and then topples over splashing the funseekers below - the excitement and the screams of delight are infectious.

GOG also boasts bragging rights of being the first and possibly only water park that offers an automated dog wash machine so that pet lovers are included - but there are selected days of the week when this pet friendly zone is in effect.

The picnic area for braais and lounging are also ideal.

The outdoor trampoline is a thrill for those who enjoy facilities like Jump City or Bounce.

For the outdoor adventure there is a BMX track, pedal go-carts, wall climbing, abseiling, pump tracks, zip lining and an obstacle course.

The restaurant on site, Cynthia's, serves breakfast, toasted sandwiches, gourmet burgers, pizzas and a selection of items on their kiddies menu.

GOG is truly a wonderland that will surpass your expectations, however, there is a need to demarcate smoking and non-smoking areas as some adults puffed with no regard for children and non-smokers.

On popular days like Saturday, the shades tend to run out quickly, and if you did not bring your own umbrella, you'll be hard-pressed to find a spot to chill.
