Celebrity chef Sibahle 'Siba' Mtongana has become one of the first South African celebrity chefs to host a series on a USA TV network.

Ten episodes of the 30min show will air weekly at 10:30am on the Cooking Channel, which reaches an audience in the USA of more than 60 million homes.

The first show will air tomorrow (5 April 2014).

“I am ecstatic about this wonderful news and really honoured to join the Cooking Channel in the US. This is great news for me, but more so for my beloved country, South Africa as it will once again place the 'rainbow nation' on the map,” Mtongana said in a press statement.

Siba’s Table premiered in South Africa on Food in September 2013, the series then aired throughout Africa, Europe, Middle East and the United Kingdom on the Scripps Network International channel, Food Network.

The show is filmed in Cape Town where Siba creates and serves a range of dishes for friends and family.

Each episode recreates a chapter of her Cape Town life, as she draws on influences from both her childhood and her experience as a food editor.
