THE mysterious disappearance of a 14-year-old boy has prompted the Eshowe Albinism Support Group to organise an awareness workshop at the Eshowe City Hall.

Sibusiso Nhatave, a boy with albinism and a pupil at Ikhandlela Primary School in Mkhobose, Eskhawini, went missing on June 2 after school, allegedly in the company of a strange male.

Albinism Society of Southern Africa (Assa) chairperson Nomasonto Mazibuko was supposed to be among the community leaders expected to address the workshop with several other leaders yesterday

Ntombizodwa Ceke, a community nursing sister and founder of the Eshowe Impumelelo Albinism Support Group (EIASG), said members were living in fear and despair after the incident.

Assa works with families and children with albinism, and is calling for community awareness and understanding of the condition.

To help Assa, Mazibuko can be reached on 082-755-3884, or EIASG public relations officer Zandile Jezi on 083-658-0323.
