More than a week after leaving a rehab facility‚ musician HHP has defended his use of dagga‚ saying he has been smoking it for years.
In April HHP‚ who now goes by Jabba‚ admitted that he had tried to kill himself three times in 2015. After waves of support from fans‚ the hip-hop star posted a message to his Facebook page saying he was going into a rehab facility.
“I’m going to Rehab to get all the antidepressants out my system. Zolo fela. I’ll be gone for 10 days from Monday to Wednesday. Wanna be fresh for the#?LifeForZoey concert. Boom. #?GodWorks #?BullshitTalk. BTW‚ people have been claiming ke Tsuba Nyaope. I won’t deny it. People claim I do cocaine. I won’t deny it. People claim I have AIDS. I won’t deny it. People say I’m poor. I won’t deny it. People say I’m jealous of CassperNyovest‚ I won’t deny it. What ever you say about me....Jesus Loves you too...#?Jab‚” read the Facebook post.
The singer performed at Back2thecity last week‚ just days after leaving the rehab facility. Speaking to DJ Sabby on YFM‚ Jabba said that he made friends with a lot of people in rehab and even brought some of them with him to the concert.
When asked how he was doing‚ Jabba insisted that he has never been better. “I’m good. People go on about how I tried to kill myself. And that’s not the point. The point is that I’m alive. And I’m not just alive. Jesus is amazing. I feel like for the first time‚ I mean like‚ I’ve always been an attention seeker kid‚ growing up I’ve always wanted to kill myself for some reason or another. When I was 11-years-old my folks took me to a mental institution because I was having weird dreams. So I was always a weird kid growing up.”
He says that since opening up about his suicide attempts‚ people tend to point fingers at his use of dagga. “So now my folks are all worried that ‘maybe it’s because of your weed.’ My grandfather used to smoke weed. I smoke weed. And everyone is like‚ ‘Hey Jabba are you okay?’ And I’m like yo man‚ if only you guys knew… I started smoking in 99.
For me I’m comfortable you thinking I’m mad. Because you never knew me. You can’t say you know Jabba. You are just a fan. It’s like sometimes people say they know Jesus. It’s just what they know. What they’ve heard. But the day you meet that guy‚ man your life is going to change.”
