TSHEDI Mholo fights her own battles and most of the time emerges victorious.

The former Malaika front woman released her debut solo project titled Victory, which has enjoyed a lukewarm reception. But she is determined to up the ante and promote the album.

Tonight, Roodepoort Theatre will be the scene for a party celebrating how far Mholo has come.

"I am happy that the launch is finally happening and people can expect fire. They will see a different side of Tshedi. I am producing and directing my own show and it will be something different," Mholo says.

Without support from her record company, Sony Music, Mholo has taken her music into her own hands.

"It's been heartbreaking knowing I have worked so hard on my product and seeing it not being supported. People don't understand that as an individual and an artist you need to grow," she says.

She refers to herself as a "leopard queen", named after her company Leopard Queen Network.

"I am realising my dream and I want to show people that for you to achieve something all you need is passion and determination."

The launch will feature a collaboration with the Limpopo Orchestra as well as Team Tshedi, the choir she mentored on reality TV show Clash of the Choirs.

"I am working with people who will walk this journey with me and enhance my performance as we create something different," she said.

She has added her own music preferences to Victory, which includes African pop with Congolese and Caribbean beats and influences.

While Mholo was out of the music scene and being a mother, she did motivational speaking with young people. Now she's back on stage where she belongs.
