Nigerian RnB star Praiz Adejo on the road to success

In a movement of supporting African music Sowetan Live caught up with sexy hunk Nigerian R& B and afrobeat singer Praiz.

Currently invading Mzansi and hitting the studio with the likes of Donald and Zion for his upcoming album, Praiz is in the business of collaborating with the best in the industry.

Made popular through Project Fame a singing competition held in Nigeria, as second runner up he has managed to take his singing career to another level.

Quite different from your Dbanj, Psquare, Wizkid and Davido, he offers a soft sound that distinguishes him from the pop tracks that have made Niger music much trendy in Mzansi.

Rising to the top, the 29 year old has made names with eight hit singles leading to scooping awards.

In his current state Praiz speaks out about finally releasing his debut double disk album titled Rich and Famous, in September.

“It has taken time to compile my debut album because I am a perfectionist; I had to take my time on my album because I believe its going to be a classic.”

Praiz describes himself as R&B even though he offers versatility in his sound.

The singer, who is now topping music charts in Nigeria with his new banging hit ‘Mercy’, says this song is about a girl that drives him wild.

“This song talks about a girl called Mercy who drives me crazy but in reality she doesn’t exist. In my mind Mercy is the only girl that I would marry and make her happy.”

“In reality I am single and haven’t found my Mercy,” he laughs.

With many Nigerian artists doing great in the music biz, Praiz finds little competition in the industry but mentions pop star Davido is doing it big for his country.

“Personally there is no competition, many of our artists are doing dance pop and few like me are into R&B, the only thing that gets tough for us as musicians is the part of staying relevant.
