AT 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month (November) in 1918, an armistice (ceasefire) was declared to end World War 1, called The Great War, that took place between 1914 and 1918.

Later a peace treaty was signed.

Armistice Day is still held on November 11 each year and is a day on which all soldiers from all wars are remembered.
