An Arizona judge has denied bail for rapper DMX, keeping him jailed on charges that he violated probation by using drugs

The 39 year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested last Thursday for probation violations that included using cocaine and Oxycontin, failing to submit to drug testing and counselling, and driving with a suspended license.

Simmons denied those allegations during a brief hearing before Court Commissioner Christine Mulleneaux in Maricopa County, Arizona.

His next hearing is set for December 9.

The rapper, whose albums include "It's Dark and Hell is Hot," is currently on probation for attempted aggravated assault and using a fake name to avoid paying a $7,500 hospital bill.

He has a long history of legal problems in Arizona.
