Youth month is gradually coming to an end but that is not stopping young influential South Africans from continuing to make a difference in the lives of those less privileged than them.

Proving that he is not just a pretty face, Cape Town-based crooner Jimmy Nevis has just announced a new youth charity initiative.

The first campaign for the newly-announced Blue Collar Foundation, headed by Nevis, is in the form of a bursary programme that will contribute towards an underprivileged High school student(s) seeking tertiary level education in Cape Town or more specifically within the Humanities faculty at a Western Cape institution.

This will take effect in the academic year 2016, with the official launch of the foundation taking place in spring 2015.

“My team and I have been working hard to make this initiative come to life. The foundation is aimed at supporting and creating opportunities that encourage our youth to dream beyond the means of their social-economic backgrounds.” Navis writes on his Facebook page.

“I pray that God may allow this Foundation to grow, enrich and inspire change within the youth of our nation! May we work together to shape and grow the leaders of tomorrow.”

Nevis is a 22-years-old pop singer and music producer who has been nominated for several awards including Record of the Year at the South African Music Awards (SAMA) and Channel O's African Music Video Award. Nevis is also up for "Best Pop & Alternative" at this year's MTV Africa Music Awards taking place on 18 July in Durban.
