Let's prove we can win away games - Roger de Sa

Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa has reiterated to his players that they will need to improve their away form considerably if they are to make any impact this season.

De Sa said this should start with tomorrow's MTN8 quarterfinal clash against Orlando Pirates in Soweto.

"It is no secret that we have not done well enough on the road and this is something we must change," repeated De Sa, who has chanted pretty much the same mantra since he took over at the club some 18 months ago.

Ajax's latest travels are to De Sa's former club at the official kick-off of the new campaign tomorrow.

Last season the Urban Warriors won three away games in the league - at Polokwane City, SuperSport United and Bloemfontein Celtic. In Soweto, Pirates beat them 4-1 in the Telkom Knockout in October and 4-0 in the league just before Christmas.

"It's a problem we are acutely aware of and one we constantly seek to work on," added De Sa, who remains perplexed about the timid approach of his players when they travel to Gauteng.

Ajax's cause tomorrow is not helped by something of a crisis in attack, with key strikers Tashreeq Morris and Nathan Paulse out of the game.

Morris underwent surgery after damaging knee ligaments in the Nedbank Cup final in May, while Paulse has sat out a large part of the pre-season work with a thigh problem.

Bidvest Wits welcome SuperSport United to Milpark Stadium in Johannesburg in another quarterfinal match tomorrow night.
