Daniels still believes Bafana can pull it off

Bafana Bafana defender Clayton Daniels believes that they can beat Senegal twice to qualify for next year's World Cup in Russia.

Senegal lead Group D with eights points, while Bafana are bottom with four points after the past weekend's matches.

The two nations will meet in back-to-back fixtures next month with the first leg in Polokwane on November 10 with the return leg four days later in Dakar.

The Lions of Teranga may be sitting pretty, but Daniels hasn't given up on Bafana's qualifying chances and expects the team to fight to the bitter end.

" It's all up to us to go there to win the games," said the SuperSport United defender.

"It's not going to be easy, but we've beaten Senegal before and we have the capability to beat them again," he said.

Daniels, 33, combined well with teammate Morgan Gould in the heart of Bafana's defence when they beat Burkina Faso 3-1 at the weekend and will be hoping to retain his place against Senegal.

"It was quite easy for me and Morgan to slot right in there, because we've been playing together for sometime. We are experienced players and it was key for us that we communicate well with each other," Daniels explained.

"Also, the right-back Thami [Mkhize] did very well on his debut. It just shows he's a good player. I think the whole back four, [including Sifiso Hlanti], really did well not to concede early goals. We also have an experienced goalkeeper in our captain [Itumeleng] Khune."
