Confident Mamelodi Sundowns plan ahead

So confident is Pitso Mosimane that Mamelodi Sundowns will overcome Wydad Casablanca in the quarterfinal of the CAF Champions League that they have already secured visas for the semifinals.

The Brazilians will face the Moroccans in the first leg on Sunday (3pm) before flying out the following day for the second leg set for next Saturday.

Mosimane had put his head on the block for Sundowns to win that tie and advance to the semifinal to play either Clube Ferroviário Beira from Mozambique or USM Alger of Algeria.

Should they march on to the last four, the Brazilians will stay put in North Africa and bank on the Algerians winning their tie to set up a semifinal first leg away in their country on September 29.

For that to happen, the Chloorkop-based outfit will need the PSL to approve a postponement of their league clash against Platinum Stars which is scheduled for October 1.

Last week Sundowns also had their league match against Ajax Cape Town, which was set for Tuesday, postponed.

"We are not coming back. We are thinking we will stay there. We will be on the same flight with these guys on Monday to play the away game," Mosimane said.

"And we believe we will go through so why should we come back to South Africa and go back the next day.

"I believe USM will beat the Mozambicans. We have booked two visas to stay there for the next two weeks. And that's the way it is, you lose money if you don't win.

"If you don't book, what kind of message am I sending to the players? No I book, you need to have the positive mentality."

Though confident, Mosimane is not underestimating the Moroccans but does feel that their tactics are predictable.
