After a couple of uninspiring results in CAF Confederation Cup and finishing 2016/17 season out of the top eight spot in the league, Platinum Stars have parted ways with the coach Cavin Johnson with an immediate effect.

Dikwena chairman Cliff Ramoroa confirmed on Monday that the club has ended their relationship with the 58-year-old coach.

The Rustenburg-based side suffered a 3-0 loss against Sfaxien in a Caf Confederation Cup game at the Stade Taeeb Mhiri on Sunday night.

"We can confirm that the club is not going to renew the contract of Mr Cavin Johnson for the 2017/18 season‚" Ramoroa said.

"We would like to express sincere gratitude for all the hard work and efforts by Mr Johnson and the technical team. Mr Johnson did his best in terms of ensuring that the club reaches the levels that it is in.

"We would like to move to another level. We believe that a change of this nature would really bring someone who will take the club to another level. This is a contract not being renewed. It’s not a firing or anything."

The club is in the process of restructuring in order to take the club to another dimension. Ramoroa revealed that there will further be changes to the technical team and playing personnel.

"We will make announcements on further changes in both the technical team and playing personnel."
Ramoroa revealed that the club is in the process of looking for Johnson’s successor.

"We will be able to make an announcement concerning the new coach before the beginning of next season‚" he said.
