Baxter lauds new Teboho Mokoena

In the recent past SA football had a soccer star named Teboho Mokoena, who represented the country in 2002 Fifa World Cup in South Korea and Japan.

Fast forward to 2017, SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter points towards a rising star named Teboho Mokoena, after the youngster converted his spot kick and punched the air with his fist to celebrate.

This was after his well taken penalty against Kaizer Chiefs.

Mokoena showed nerves of steel for a 20 year old, as he gave Amakhosi and Bafana Bafaja No 1 keeper Itumeleng Khune no chance.

Mokoena is fast becoming a key player for United.

It could get to a point where Baxter struggles to release him to join the national under-20 team preparations for World Cup, ironically also in Korea, on May 20 to June 11.

The league season ends on May 27 and United could reach the Nedbank Cup final in June.

"He is a talent. He has had a lot of experience this year and it will be great for him in future.

"I would love to send him to the World Cup with the under-20s. Our injury list will dictate if we can or we can't.

"I really hope that we do not do with Teboho what we do with a lot of talent in South Africa and that's to go totally overboard when he has played one game.

"And then he takes six months with his head up his backside and we then have to nurse him back to something like reality."
