Ronwen Williams has been experiencing some mixed emotions of late.

The SuperSport United goalkeeper is happy with his start to the season having conceded just two goals in five league games, but sad that he has been snubbed for national team duty.

"Obviously, I would love to be there [with Bafana]. Last season when I wasn't called up I expected that as I knew I wasn't doing well," said Williams yesterday.

"I mean, my team wasn't doing well and we were conceding a lot of goals, but now I have been keeping clean sheets and I have been doing well," he said. The 24-year-old confessed yesterday that he finds it odd that Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane continues to be called up by Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba even though he is not playing at club level.

"For me, not being there is like a slap in the face. I mean, someone like Jackson is getting called up and he hasn't played, but I just need to knuckle down and keep working hard. When my chance comes, I will grab it," said the Port Elizabeth-born goalkeeper.

"As you can see, with the start I've had [this season], I've only conceded two goals in five games. I don't know when last I've had a start like this and it's bringing back my confidence. I'm working hard with the goalkeeper coach and the other keepers as well. Hopefully this season can be a good one for me, and I can bring back the old Ronwen," he added.

Meanwhile, SuperSport United defender Tefu Mashamaite is out for two weeks after undergoing knee surgery to remove a "foreign bone".

This was revealed by the club's head coach Stuart Baxter, who also confirmed that Bradley Grobler, Grant Kekana, Keegan Ritchie, Onismor Bhasera, Clayton Daniels and Mario Booysen have also been on the treatment table.

SuperSport host Highlands Park on Sunday in Atteridgeville, Pretoria (Lucas Moripe Stadium, 3pm).
