Mosimane slams Wits' showy behaviour

When Pitso Mosimane woke up on Saturday he knew Mamelodi Sundowns were going to have a very difficult game against Bidvest Wits in the MTN8 final.

True to his words, the Brazilians were thumped 3-0 by the Clever Boys at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

But Mosimane's worries had little to do with the opposition ahead of the match, instead it was the weather when he looked outside his hotel room.

The rain, albeit briefly, left Sundowns struggling to adjust in the early stages of the match, with their game characterised by poor passing and players slipping up.

Needless to say, they were punished.

"When I woke up in the morning and I looked outside the window, I was like 'Wooh, this is going to be a tough one'. The conditions, even before the match started and the warm ups, didn't really suit our style [of play] but it is not an excuse because football is played on any condition," reflected Mosimane.

Weather conditions aside, "Jingles" admitted that they went down to a better side on the day and gave credit where it was due. "We lost to a good team and it came out exactly the way I expected in terms of tactics. But I didn't expect a goal in the first 30 seconds. That's a difficult one."

"They [Wits] wanted it more than us and I'm happy for them. I'm happy for coach Gavin Hunt to win his trophy with Wits. As we say, God loves us all," Mosimane said.

The former Bafana Bafana coach was even more frustrated by Wits' showboating towards the end of the match and made his feelings known.

"I had a word with Keagan [Dolly]. He lost it a little bit at the end, because that's what I didn't like about the match - the showboating.

"We scored four against Wits the last time and we gave [them] respect. I think we lost to a good team, but that part [showboating] was not nice," Mosimane concluded.
