Amakhosi are predictable, mocks Wits captain Tyson

Even though Kaizer Chiefs have made a number of changes to their squad, Bidvest Wits captain Thulani "Tyson" Hlatshwayo has thrown the first punch by saying Amakhosi are predictable.

Last season's runners-up Wits host Chiefs at Bidvest Stadium tonight (7.30pm), hoping to get off to a good start after losing twice to Amakhosi in the league last season.

Hlatshwayo says it's easy to predict the starting line-up of Chiefs, who clinched a 1-0 victory during their last visit to Milpark.

"It does not make it tricky. They are a team that does not sell [players] too much. And all the teams that are playing against Chiefs are able to see what system they will play when you watch the Black Label Cup," said Hlatshwayo, who has recovered from a hip injury that kept him out towards the end of last season.

"We are pretty much sure what team we are going to face.

"It will be easy to guess the starting line-up of Chiefs. As much as they did buy players, it will be easy to know who will play. So I think we can match them."

The Clever Boys have not won silverware since lifting the Nedbank Cup in 2010 with a young squad coached by Roger de Sa, before some of the big name players they have now started joining the club.

Hlatshwayo's message to his teammates this season is straight forward: "We cannot make any excuses."

He's right. With a coach that has won the league three times and a squad with top players, Wits have to deliver this season.

"Winning the league takes unity, depth, character and the balance between the youngsters and older guys. I hope we have a good season. I think we deserve to win something this season," said Hlatshwayo.

Wits have taken valuable lessons from last season and there's hope for improvements.

"We wasted chances in front of goal last season and we made stupid mistakes to concede goals."
