Kesa Molotsane remains on course to win the Spar Women's Grand Prix after her second-place finish in the Durban leg of the 10km series yesterday.

Molostane finished in 33 min31 sec but admitted she struggled with the heat in Durban, coming from a chilly Bloemfontein, her home town.

She now leads the overall standings after another second-place in Cape Town and a first-place finish in Port Elizabeth. Yesterday she finished behind winner Tish Jones of Britain, who won in a time of 32:58.

Molotsane remains positive with three more legs to come in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Pietermaritzburg.

"I am looking forward to the next three races and I will be looking to stay at the top. My run was a bit different. Before I came down here, it was minus three degrees at home and I came here to find that it's 25 degrees," said Molotsane.

"That's a drastic change for my system. I needed to adapt."

Lebogang Phalula overcame a chest infection to finish third, in 33:39.

"I've been sick for almost two weeks. I am happy to be in the top three," she said.
