Fuzile swats away Munyai in three

A boxing match which was widely expected to be the toughest to date for Azinga "Golden Boy" Fuzile against Tshifhiwa "Atomic Spider" Munyai actually turned out to be the easiest for the former.

The eight-fight novice spectacularly pulverised Munyai, a 33-fight veteran, into submission in three rounds on Saturday evening. The 21-year-old Fuzile dropped Munyai three times - once in the second round and twice in the third.

Munyai, 32, got up after the third knockdown on 'jelly legs' and was clearly in no condition to continue, so he gave up on his own - much to the deafening noise from a big crowd of Fuzile's fans.

Some had driven all the way from East London, while others flew in to give their rising star moral support in what was his first fight at the imposing Emperors Palace.

The short-route win was Fuzile's fourth in nine wins. Munyai had promised to go all the way and win the Golden Gloves Featherweight Super Four. Instead, he was humbled in the first semifinal of the Super Four tournament.

In another semifinal, Lerato "Light Outs" Dlamini outfoxed vastly experienced Simpiwe "V12" Vetyeka over 10 rounds to win with a majority points decision.

There were no knockdowns but the 23-year-old Dlamini showed little respect for the former SA and IBO bantam, IBO and WBA Super featherweight holder from Mdantsane. Vetyeka suffered his fourth defeat against 24 wins.

Dlamini, on the other hand, improved to 10 wins in 11 fights. The two will meet in the final in February and the winner will get a WBC International belt.

Other results:

Super middleweight, eight rounds: Ryno Liebenberg beat Patrick Mukala on points; starweight, eight rounds: Dee Jay Kriel beat Thembani Okolo on points.
