Baloyi wants to be talk of town in Bloemfontein

Bloemfontein Celtic supporters hardly notice their club's new signing, Lucky Baloyi, when he is out and about on the streets in the City of Roses.

Bloemfontein Celtic supporters hardly notice their club's new signing, Lucky Baloyi, when he is out and about on the streets in the City of Roses.

But that does not deter Baloyi, as he believes he'll be the talk of the town once the new PSL season gets underway next month.

"So far the fans don't notice me, but the most important thing is for me to work hard for the team," Baloyi told Sowetan yesterday.

The 26-year-old wants nothing more than to be a regular in the new season - that's why he opted to leave Chiefs - to get some game time.

Baloyi did enjoy at least one good season with Chiefs in the 2011-2012 campaign, when he was named the club's Players' Player of the Season.

The 2014-2015 campaign was equally enjoyable for "Sheriff" who was on loan at Moroka Swallows at the time. He played almost every game for the Dube Birds before they got relegated the following season.

He's hoping for the same game time at Celtic.

"Ni tsake ngopfu (I'm very happy) that I joined Celtic. I didn't waste time coming here after I was told to come through," said the lad from Mokopane in Limpopo.

"The more I play, the more I gain some confidence. That's why I did so well during those seasons at Chiefs and Swallows."

After returning to Chiefs from Swallows in 2015, Baloyi was actually meant to go on loan to Celtic, but the move never materialised.

"Chiefs wanted to loan me to Celtic, but swilo swa kona a swi fambangi kahle (things didn't go well)," he said, speaking in Tsonga, his home language.

"I will be lying if I say I know what stopped the move.

"But it has finally happened and I have been welcomed very well.

"I'm sorted with everything, including accommodation, I can just focus on my game," Baloyi added.
