Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that general manager Sizwe Nzimande has left the club.

But the club’s spokesperson Thulani Thuswa could not provide the reasons for Nzimande’s departure when contacted on Tuesday.

“I can confirm that he (Nzimande) has left the club and that is as far as I can comment on the matter‚” Thuswa said.

Nzimande‚ who has in the past worked at the Premier Soccer League (PSL) as deputy to chief executive Trevor Phillips and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) as group executive for sport‚ oversaw Sundowns’ successful run in the Caf Champions League where they went on to lift the cup.

In 1997‚ he worked for the Rothmans Cup‚ which was the first cup competition in South Africa to boast prize money of R1 million.

He later moved to Absa where he was involved with the Absa Cup.

At Sundowns‚ Nzimande worked with legal and commercial manager Yogesh Singh in running the day to day running of the club.

It remains to be seen who will take over from him in the coming months. - TMG Digital
