Ajax Cape Town have completed the signing of defender Rheece Evans on an 18-month loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns‚ the club confirmed on Wednesday.
It ends a nightmare stay at Chloorkop for the 26-year-old‚ who made just two substitute appearances for the club in domestic football in two and a half seasons since joining from Maritzburg United in 2014.
He did also make an appearance in the dead-rubber 3-1 loss to Enyimba in the final game of Sundowns’ African Champions League campaign earlier this year.
“Evans arrived at Ikamva on Wednesday afternoon and will be available for selection for the club’s Absa Premiership meeting against Chippa United next Wednesday‚ with the right-back to link up with his new teammates later this week‚” a statement from Ajax said.
Evans adds to the right-back options of coach Stanley Menzo‚ who has been using Erwin Isaacs‚ traditionally an attacking midfielder‚ in that role in the last month or so. - TMG Digital
