Wayde has no regrets

Wayde van Niekerk has defined 2016 as an amazing year of growth.

This after he lost out to Usain Bolt in the race for the IAAF World Athlete of the Year award at a gala in Monaco, France, at the weekend.

The Jamaican sprinter was crowned the best male athlete - ahead of Van Niekerk and British star Mo Farah - for the sixth time since the inception of the IAAF award in 1988.

"It has been an amazing year of growth; a confidence booster if I may put it that way. I have been going year after year," said the SA sprinter.

Van Niekerk had said he would likely attend one of the home games of his beloved Liverpool this festive season.
