Patrice Motsepe foots bill for 140 fans to join Sundowns in Egypt

Mamelodi Sundowns will be taking 140 of their supporters to Egypt to attend the second leg of the Caf Champions League final against Zamalek in Alexandria on Sunday night‚ at the cost of the club.

The supporters’ airfares and hotel costs will be paid for‚ Times Media has learnt.

The club has been scrambling to secure visas for all 140 fans – members of some of the club’s 200 supporter branches – from the Egyptian embassy in Pretoria.

Sundowns are owned by billionaire mining magnate Patrice Motsepe.

Downs also have a R14 000 package they made available for supporters not on the list of 140 who want to make the trip at their own cost.

The Brazilians have a 3-0 lead to protect from a dominant first leg at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday‚ when they meet Egyptian giants Zamalek at Borg El Arab Stadium‚ 25 kilometres outside Alexandria‚ on Sunday night (8.30pm SA time). - TMG Digital
