National First Division side Jomo Cosmos owner Jomo Sono knows how to get the best out of Anthony Laffor, the player Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane described as difficult to work with.

Sono, who brought Laffor to the PSL in 2005 to play for his side, has been observing the much-published on-and-off relationship between Mosimane and the Liberian international.

Mosimane and the player might not always see eye-to-eye, but Sono has urged the coach to start with Laffor in the CAF Champions League final against Zamalek next month. "His match winner is Anthony. He has everything. He is physically strong and you need a player like him in matches like that. He might not be the hardest working player, but you put him up there and he will create or score a goal," said Sono.

"I understood him. There are certain players ... if they know they are match winners you turn a blind eye [when they make a mistake] and you know 30 seconds later he will do something good. He's an introvert. You have to study him and understand him. He makes mistakes but if you go mad, then you won't get anything out of him. You call him aside and speak to him."

Sundowns will host the first leg on October 15 before going to Cairo, Egypt, for the second leg a week later.

"It's against all odds. He [Pitso] has done well and we at Cosmos are proud of him. Not only have we produced players, but we have produced coaches too," said Sono, as a reminder that Mosimane is a former Cosmos player.
