Jomo Cosmos coach Jomo Sono says goalkeeper Williams Okpara junior has to work extra hard to be as great as his father who is considered a legend at Orlando Pirates.

Sono dropped Okpara in Cosmos' first victory of the season in the only match played on Sunday in the National First Division. Ezenkosi beat Mthatha Bucks 1-0 at Fanie du Toit Stadium, as they bounced back from a 2-1 defeat at Milano United the previous weekend.

It's Okpara junior's first season at Cosmos and he will probably give Okpara senior a call for advice on being strong after getting dropped.

"Our goalkeeper was not doing so well. He let in silly goals against Milano and we dropped him. We were not supposed to lose against Milano. Okpara must work hard to be like his father who was one hell of a goalkeeper," said Sono.

It took Cosmos four matches before they registered their first victory this season, but Sono never panicked.

"It's still too early. Even the win we got on Sunday, there's nothing to write home about. Experience is what will count at the end."

AmaZulu are top of the table on 10 points after a 3-0 victory over University of Pretoria on Saturday.

Second-placed Black Leopards are just three points behind after registering a 4-0 win over Milano in Thohoyandou. Rookies Magesi FC suffered their third defeat of the season, going down 2-0 to Witbank Spurs at Puma Rugby Stadium.

l Meanwhile, Thanda Royal Zulu will host Witbank Spurs at Umhlathuze Sports Complex tomorrow (3pm).
