Kaizer Chiefs winger William Twala says the club's poor start to the season has been disheartening and the accompanying negativity has only served to demoralise the side.

Chiefs are yet to win a match this season after defeats to BidVest Wits and newcomers Cape Town City - in the league and in the MTN8 respectively - and Twala conceded that they are struggling to pick up the pieces after the unexpected setbacks.

"Obviously it's a bit demoralising but the coach always emphasises the positive in everything‚" Twala said on Monday.

"He says before anything good happens‚ there will always be a bit of a rough patch. We believe the past two matches were our rough patch and we will hopefully change the results going forward."

Chiefs host Platinum Stars at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night and their long-suffering fans will hope that Twala's words ring true.

Stars are not to be sniffed at and they completed the double over Chiefs last season after beating coach Steve Komphela's charges home and away.

Twala said they could at least draw solace from the fact that Chiefs have created chances in the games they have lost and it is poor decision-making in front of goal rather than a lack of creativity that cost them.

"I think if you saw our previous two games‚ the opposition goalkeepers won the man of the match awards in those games. I think that says a lot. But we are working on scoring goals." - TMG Digital
