Ndoro gives coach credit for sparkling form

On-fire Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro has heaped praise on Muhsin Ertugral, saying the coach's training methods are on point.

Speaking after netting a hat-trick to help Pirates beat Golden Arrows 3-1 at Orlando Stadium in midweek, the 28-year-old said his goals reflected the work they do at training under the new coach.

Ndoro used the example of his first goal that was a well worked move by midfielder Mpho Makola and Thabo Rakhale, with the latter playing the final pass to Ndoro who applied a cool finish.

"The coach always tells us to time [the runs]. He says 'don't just run when the other player is not ready to cross the ball'. If you look at all the goals, we followed the coach's instructions," Ndoro said.

He further pointed out that Ertugral always wants him to get into the box to have more chances to score, which is something the mentor encouraged last season's league top goalscorer Collins Mbesuma to do when they were at Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Ndoro continued: "There was a goal chance in the first half and I wasn't in the box and at half time the coach asked why I was not in the box [at the time]. We are lucky to have such a great coach."

Ertugral, for his part, is convinced that the striker can hit the 20-goal mark this season but needs to believe more in his ability.

"He has such great quality. We spoke at the beginning of the season and I had a long chat with him about what kind of potential he has, and actually, he doesn't know that himself. It is quite amazing what possibilities he has and he has to touch the 20[-goal] mark this season."
