Usain Bolt sends message in 100m semis

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt looks a good bet for his third 100m gold medal after posting an impressive time in the semi-final.

Bolt took it easy towards the end of his 9.86s sprint in the second semi-final, followed by Andre De Grasse of Canada with 9.92s.

That impressive time sent a message to rival Justin Gatlin of the United States, who qualified in the subsequent semi-final with a time of  9.94s, ahead of Yohan Blake of Jamaica with 10.01s.

They are joined by Jimmy Vicaut of France and Ben Youssef Meïté of Côte d'Ivoire, with times of 9.95s and 9.97 respectively, while Akani Simbine of South Africa and American Trayvon Bromell also advance with third-best times of 9.98 and 10.01 respectively.
