'We are excited to welcome Vilakazi': Motsepe

Mamelodi Sundowns president Patriece Motsepe is thrilled by the arrival of former Bidvest Wits industrious midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi at Chloorkop.

The seven times Premier Soccer League champions announced Vilakazi along with Brazilian central defender Ricardo Nascimento and midfielder Lucky Mohomi from Free State Stars.

Motsepe believes the arrival of ‘Vila’ will make a huge contribution to the growth and success of the club.

The 26 year old Vilakazi had been the subject of much speculation for a very long time and Sundowns have beaten rivals Kaizer Chiefs to his signature.

"We are excited to welcome Sibusiso Vilakazi to the Mamelodi Sundowns Family. We have been monitoring him for quite some time and I am confident that he will make a huge contribution to the growth and success of Sundowns," Motsepe told the club’s website.

"We are now taking a longer time monitoring and assessing players who we think will fit in with our style and culture of play before we acquire them.

"We have made mistakes in the past and we hope that we have learned from our mistakes. We are also very happy to welcome Mohomi and Nascimento to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sundowns confirmed to have been monitoring Nascimento for the past two years before securing his services.

"What excites me a lot about Mohomi is not only that he is an excellent player but also that he comes from Mamelodi which is where Sundowns has its roots," he adds. - Additional reporting by Sowetan LIVE
