Mame Niang is ready to ignore firm interest from Europe to remain in the Premier Soccer League.

The lanky Senegalese striker says Norwegian club Konsvinger, a team he played for between 2010 and 2011, have showed interest in his services, but he wants to remain in South Africa

Niang's contract with Mamelodi Sundowns has expired and he is hoping to get a deal locally after a disappointing spell on loan to AmaZulu in the second half of the National First Division last season.

"There is interest from Konsvinger. They are serious about having me on board, but the problem is I have businesses in Johannesburg and I am getting married in Cape Town in December. I want to stay in South Africa," the 32-year-old striker said .

Most of the PSL clubs have begun pre-season training and Niang is currently keeping himself fit in gym.

"For now my agent is busy contacting teams (locally) and I am training on my own.

"Hopefully things get sorted out as soon as possible. I am running like crazy in the gym and I am lifting weights. Let's hope I find a club because I believe I can achieve a lot when I am fit."

Since leaving University of Pretoria in 2013, Niang has not been able to score regularly or get regular game time. "It did not go well (at AmaZulu last season). I was injured the whole time. It also did not go well at Sundowns, but I managed to learn a lot from there. Sometimes there's disappointments, but that's how life is."
