Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy has urged the Amakhosi faithful to select the club's new players for the Carling Black Label Cup on July 30.

Chiefs and Orlando Pirates fans have a month to select their starting line-ups for the Soweto Derby.

McCarthy believes Chiefs have made the right signings and that fans must give them a chance for the match against Pirates to see what they can bring to the team.

The club has signed Keagan Buchanan, Sibusiso Khumalo, Enocent Mkhabela, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Emmanuel Letlotlo, Lewis Macha, Edmore Chirambadare and Mitchell Katsvairo.

"Look, the boys that Chiefs signed should be given a chance. 'Rama', you can't ask questions about experience because he lifted the PSL [title]. Is he going to fit in at Chiefs?

"From my side, I know him personally and he's a very disciplined boy. He doesn't get involved in politics and lives a clean lifestyle," McCarthy said.

"You also can't talk about Khumalo. I played with both of them [Mphahlele and Khumalo] at Moroka Swallows and I guided them.

"When Rama called me I told him, 'Handle the critics and deliver. Remember, when you put that jersey on, don't think about yourself and think about the people behind that jersey; think about the badge and the fans'.

"That's why I'm encouraging the fans to vote for the players Chiefs have signed ... They wouldn't have signed them if they weren't good. Let the Khosi faithful vote for these players."
