Enyimba coach Paul Aigbogun admitted their chances of reaching the CAF Champions League semifinals were slim after suffering defeats in their first two Group B matches.

The two-time champions slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday, 10 days after falling to Egypt's Zamalek in their opening match.

Group B has been reduced to three clubs after Algerians ES Setif were disqualified, so Enyimba need maximum points in their remaining two matches to have any hope of reaching the last four.

"I feel it was an entertaining game, but I am obviously disappointed. I thought 1-1 would have been a fair result," said Aigbonun after the defeat in Atteridgeville.

Enyimba's next match will be against Zamalek away on August 14 and they host Downs in their last group match a week later.

"It makes it a bit difficult now because there's one team out. Hopefully we will win remaining matches. We won't give up."

Aigbonun explained his decision to start with the competition's top scorer, Mfon Udoh on the bench.

"He does well when he comes off the bench. We wanted to weather the storm the first few minutes and then change our game plan, which worked when he came on. It's unfortunate that he had to come off."
