Mpumalanga Black Aces winger Maphosa Modiba has refused to talk about his future at the club and would not confirm if he will move to Cape Town with the franchise purchased by John Comitis.

While other Black Aces players such as Aubrey Ngoma and Lebogang Manyama have committed themselves to the team‚ Modiba batted away questions from Times Media Digital over his future.

“I don’t want to discuss that‚ I am here [at the COSAFA Castle Cup in Namibia] with the national team and want to give them all of my focus‚” Modiba said.

Times Media Digital understands that the player’s representatives will engage with the club next week over the player’s future and no decision has been made yet.

It will be a worry for Comitis‚ with Modiba having emerged last season as one of the crown jewels in the squad he purchased along with the Black Aces franchise.

Modiba has previously spoken of his reservations about moving away from his Limpopo-based family.

The 20-year-old is headed to the Olympics with the South African Under-23 side after a meteoric rise that saw him graduate from the Nedbank Ke Yona programme and go directly into the national Under-20 side‚ and later join the Under-23.

He became a fixture in Muhsin Ertugral’s Black Aces side last season with his versatility seeing him move from left-back to left-wing.

He is likely to start South Africa’s COSAFA Castle Cup final against Botswana on Saturday and will then be off to Japan with the Under-23s for a friendly.

Black Aces have already confirmed that they will part ways with last season’s top-scorer Collins Mbesuma‚ while veteran goalkeeper Bafana Nhlapo has called it quits.

Comitis will officially launch his new club next Wednesday at the Cape Town Stadium‚ which will be their new home base.
